UNIR Research, http://research.unir.net, the Research Department of the International University of La Rioja (UNIR, http://www.unir.net) works on selected scientific and humanistic fields of study with particular focus on information and communication technologies (ICT) applied to education (Technology-Enhanced Learning). All of them are designed for practical implementation and subsequent exploitation in the market (i.e. end-user, Industry, Academia, and Public administration), along with a large number of collaboration agreements with Latin American and European universities.
We believe that research is crucial for quality in higher education (lecturing and learning). Therefore, we develop research projects very much focused on ICT and Technology-enhanced Learning, since they both are core topics of the university.
Another strong field of work and research at UNIR is Innovation in education, aiming at a higher quality in education, which combines the study of good practices and innovative educational implementations. It supports new paradigms and ways of learning enabled by TEL like, i.e. Open Educational Resources, Open Course Ware, MOOCs, et cetera), with emerging structures and processes required for their appropriate management, implementation and exploitation (i.e. credit recognition, quality, accreditation, virtual-mobility, et cetera).
In addition, UNIR Research provides a strong layer of networks like, i.e. the UNESCO Chair on eLearning, TELspain, TELEARC: all of them very much focused on Technology-enhanced Learning, Educational Innovation, and related work areas. Out of all this activity, UNIR contributes to a number of European R&D projects like, EduMotion, EU-University Social Responsibility, eMundus, Virtual Mobility Passport, Inspiring Science Education, Hotel, Intuitel and Social Seducement.
